Expresso is a small dark strong flavoured coffee.
All you need is a very small milk pan and very fine ground good quality coffee.
Use very small coffee cups, measure one good teaspoon of coffee for each cup of water and bring to the boil with or without sugar.
Some people call it Turkish Coffee. You can either use a tea strainer when pouring into cups or pour and leave coffee to settle in the bottom of the cup.Remember to tell people to leave a bit in the bottom. That’s why you will usually get offered a glass of water with Expresso. The quality and freshness of the coffee has to be very good or it will taste yuk !Always serve black !

how come when you steam the milk in a cappuccino machine it makes that high pitched noise when you first start

The sucking noise indicates that the milk is thickening nicely.

How can I make espresso without an espresso machine?

I need one and a half cups of espresso for a recipe. Is there a simple way to make some without the equipment?

I needed the answer to this same question. See if this link helps.

I have a Vesuvio stovetop cappuccino maker and I can’t get it to bew espresso.?

It’ll drip clear and murky water but no rich espresso. I’ve tried filling up the water level. I’m afraid to keep it on the stove too long as I don’t want it to explode. Any suggestions?

take it back and get another cappuccino maker.

Looking for good, automatic espresso maker?

I’m looking for recommendations for a good, automatic espresso maker. Something that’s made of metal and not cheap plastic. And has to look good. I have about $700 to blow on it.

Any recommendations ??

Do you want a fully or semiautomatic? Fully automatic will be more than $700, so look for the semiautos. A good reference site is:

I have the Francis Francis! X5. It’s sexy, durable, and still gives the operator enough control over your product.
